Reviving Margrit Mondavi's 1969 Lawn Concert Tradition
As reported by Hoodline writer Eric Tanaka (citing announcements from Robert Mondavi Winery, The Press Democrat, the Napa Valley Register, The Mercury News, Forbes, and Wine Industry Advisor), the autumn show builds on nearly six decades of wine-country performances:
- From Jazz Pioneers to the 50th Season: Started in 1969 by Margrit Mondavi; reached 50th season in 2019; reopened May 14, 2026 with John Legend, the Oakville concert series has hosted Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Brubeck, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, The Struts, Thievery Corporation, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, and Matt Nathanson, raising millions of dollars for Napa Valley charitable music organizations with a historic outdoor capacity of about 1,450 guests.
- Three-Year Estate Overhaul & New Hospitality Wing: The property recently completed a 3-year Constellation Brands overhaul estimated at $100 million (Mercury News) to $200 million (Forbes) that added sustainability upgrades and the new Vineyard Room hospitality wing. Reopened experiences include Vineyard Room tastings priced from $60 to $150 and Mondavi Table culinary experience at $95, alongside hosting the 32nd season of Music in the Vineyards ("Beyond Words") between August 2 and 23, 2026.
