Yountville Arts is holding an annual Scarecrow Making Contest with submissions due Oct. 2 and display Oct. 5–Nov. 2, 2026 at the Community Center Plaza.

Yountville Arts is inviting residents, families, artists and local businesses to enter its annual Scarecrow Making Contest, with handmade creations set to fill the Community Center Plaza this fall.

According to a notice posted by the Town of Yountville, participants must email yountvillearts@yville.com by Oct. 2 to register. Finished scarecrows should be delivered to the Yountville Community Center at 6516 Washington St. between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, when staff will help with placement.

The scarecrows will be on display from Oct. 5 through Nov. 2, 2026. All styles — traditional, quirky or avant-garde — are welcome, though organizers ask that materials be sturdy enough to withstand local weather. Scarecrows may be staked into the ground if needed.

Prizes will be awarded to contest winners. When delivering a scarecrow, participants will be asked for its name, the maker's identity and any business or sponsor information to accompany the display.

Scarecrows can be picked up starting Nov. 2. Any left after Nov. 6 will be disposed of; organizers ask those needing alternative arrangements to get in touch.
